Platform 2

Platform 2 is our second platform along the line (in the Bromyard-Worcester direction). The Saloon Coach is nestled here amidst the rail embankment and with the stone bridge as a backdrop.

This green platform is lined with trees, ferns and bluebells (when in season), and has a carpet of wildflowers. It provides a secluded outdoor area from where to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings while listening to the birds singing. Platform 2 has a picnic table and bbq facilities for our coach guests to use.

Car parking for Platform 2 is close-by, along our green avenue and opposite the Weighbridge Office.

The Lounge-Diner

The Lounge-Diner is at one end of the Saloon Coach making the most of the panoramic views.

With vintage coffee tables and 1960’s styled sofas, the G-Plan circular dining table and four chairs completes the look on the diner side of this spacious living room.

There is a wall-mounted TV providing freeview channels along with cable services with access to Netflix and catch-up TV channels. WIFI is available inside the Saloon Coach.

Local information materials are available on the integrated original shelving next to the dining table.

The Saloon corner

True to the decade of when the coach was built, the Lounge is comfortably furnished with mid-century vintage coffee tables and 1960’s styled sofas.

As with most of the coach windows, spring-roller blinds are used throughout the saloon giving the guests the ability to control the level of natural lighting and privacy.

The lounge-diner is well heated by two radiators at opposite ends of the room.

The Coach Kitchen

The Coach Kitchen is through a sliding door, next to the Lounge-Diner along the corridor.

This is a fully-fitted kitchen with a gas hob with electric oven and an extractor fan, under the counter fridge and dishwasher, a sink with drainer, and a radiator. There is a whistling kettle, a toaster, and a cafetiere along with crockery, cutlery, pots and pans.

This space is original to the Saloon Coach, having been the kitchen formerly used by a chef catering for the railway engineers while at work inspecting the rail network.

The Luggage Compartment

The Luggage Compartment is the first room that welcomes our guests on entering through the middle door of the Saloon Coach.

It is the coach cloakroom with coat hooks, a large luggage rack, and a small radiator. It is also where the boiler for the central heating and hot water is housed.

 The 2nd Sleeping Compartment

This sleeping compartment has a set of full size bunk beds along with open cabinets and various storage spaces for clothes and personal effects.

The beds are suitable for both children and adults, the space is surprisingly spacious.

This room has full blackout blinds along with a towel rail, a stool and a vanity mirror.

The Main Bedroom

The Main Bedroom is at the other end of the corridor, part of the former saloon. It enjoys panoramic views to both sides of the track and the green platform.

Framing the double bed, is a long G-Plan headboard with integrated bedside tables with drawers.

There is an open wardrobe with shelving, and a vanity mirror. The coach windows in this lovely shaped-room also have full black-out blinds.

The Coach Bathroom

The Bathroom is the first door to the left of the coach entrance with its original ‘Lavatory’ sign.

Behind the door however, the bathroom is fully refitted with modern facilities.

This is a bright room with a shower cubicle, toilet, and a pedestal wash basin with a heated mirror. The bathroom accessories include a heated towel rail for guest convenience.

The Corridor

The Corridor of the Saloon Coach serves as the communicating spine along the platform-side.

The wood panelled walls recall the railway of yesteryear.

It also has wooden grab poles to complete that picture along with five opening windows (including the sliding one on the main coach door).
